Barmy Army win again!

Big Rab Broons Barmy Army recorded their third win in a row after disposing of Unfitico Madrid without a host of star players. Goal machine Paul Mccormack, Champagne Charley, the man mountain Big G, his flatmates and Gary were all sidelined due to the ridiculous university schedule. This left the Barmy Army with a squad of just 5 consisting of Dave “the tackle” Meikleham, Ross “Hitman” Hart, cleansheet Couper, Johny Glen and Mark who missed a day of work to play for the mighty Barmy Army. The first half was a real battle with the Barmy Army fighting back from 2 down and then 4-2 to go in at half time at 4-4 thanks to 2 goals from Mark, a Ross Hart thunderbolt and a typically ridiculous goal from Johny.

The second half kicked off in controversial style as three members of the Intellectual George squad (fellow Ideal Leisure team) joined the Barmy Army to give a rest to the heroic first half performers. Cleansheet and Mark were the only survivors from the first half and this changed the game in favour of the Barmy Army. Dangerous Dave Watson, Gman and Kenny came in and gave some much needed energy to the shattered Barmy Army players. Dangerous Dave added two as did Gman to make it 8-4 and by this stage the Barmy Army were flying. Further goals from The Hitman and Johny made the game safe against the bitter opposition.

The game was not all about goals though and there were a few unsavoury moments in the second half which saw an opposition player slap Mark on the back of head twice and Gman almost caused a 10 man brawl with a foul on one of the Unfitico Madrid boys.

Although the opposition claimed that the game was a draw they knew fine well that they had been beaten by the form team of 2008. It finished 12-10 to the Barmy Army to add to their previous two victories against Design United and Git Face United which lifted Brooner’s boys to the glory of 13th with only goal difference seperating the Barmy Army from 11th.

Big Rab Broon was rumoured to be in the crowd and would have been pleased with the battling victory for his depleated squad.

Barmy Army player manager Dirty Dave Meikleham said: “Mon the Barmy Army!”

While Ross Hart added: “Get it right up them!”

  1. BIG RAB BROON’S BARMY ARMY!

    Superb stuff.

  2. Utter nonsense. And we’d have kicked your arse in the supposed near ‘10 man brawl’ that i have absolutely no recollection of. As i remember all the Rab Broon players were weeds, not the hardmen you paint them out to be.

  3. it was just a bit of fun eh! no need to take it so seriously.
